![]() The legendary assassin, despite meeting a tragic end in his past life, is reincarnated in a new world where his legacy continues. I recommend it to any J-Rock fan! While I have no interest in watching a second season of this, I look forward to the next album.Sekai Saikou no Ansatsusha, Isekai Kizoku ni Tensei suru Their cover of “Rockn' Roll, Morning Light Falls on You” is fantastic, and the whole thing is an easy listen. On a more positive (and side) note, I enjoyed the album “kessoku band” more than the anime itself. These “jack of all trades” anime tend to have a wide appeal, so I’m not surprised it became this popular plus, colorful characters like the main four girls are very marketable, regardless if they’re interesting or not. Everything it attempts has been done better by a million other shows. The seiyuu also performed flawlessly, not much else to say about it.īocchi the Rock! bites more than it can chew. Audio-wise, the opening is a banger, and the insert songs and endings were generally good. ![]() Hitori’s breakdowns and facial expressions were a highlight, and the animation during the musical performances was great, with better and subtler CGI than the average music anime. The realistic backgrounds clash with the characters most of the time, but there's no denying that this is a high-effort production, and a very creative one too. The only element deserving of praise is the presentation. It would have been better if they stuck closer to the regular 4koma adaptation format. I think CloverWorks took too many liberties here, because the manga is better paced and also funnier sometimes. Regardless, the show never says anything meaningful it sure seems to try, but it’s all very superficial. I even thought the humor was mean-spirited at times. The depiction of social anxiety had potential, but it’s mostly played for laughs and the stakes are always low anyway. So, if it’s not funny, surely the other elements of the anime will carry it? Not really. While Ryo was occasionally funny, Nijika and Kita were extremely bland and one-dimensional, and the two didn't serve much purpose aside from being nice to Hitori. This could pay off once they make more seasons, but after 12 episodes I don’t feel like I know much about the characters, and thus I don’t have much of a reason to care for them. ![]() of steam and starts to repeat gags, most of which weren’t good to begin with.Īnother problem is that it focuses too much on the title character, leaving the other three main girls with little to no development. While this makes their relationship more realistic (considering most of them just met), the characters simply don’t have the chemistry that you’ve come to expect from other moe comedies. ![]() The four girls seem to keep each other at an arm’s length, or at least farther away than in other similar shows. Its biggest problem is that it’s not very funny. As someone who struggled with social anxiety and loved K-ON! when I was younger, I thought this would be right up my alley, but I was left disappointed. Probably one of the most overpraised shows in recent times. And the only things that set it apart from other shows in the same vein is the cute girls, and the overall aesthetics of the show. And the way it gets it’s message across isn’t half bad, it’s clear in the way it gets across and I’d say it does a successful job of portraying a lot of real life anxieties and issues people go through hence why there’s a bit of shallowness to the show, because that’s the sole purpose of it. The banking quality is on relatability, sending a message, and the fact that they are cute girls. They adapt parts of the manga and make it feel very comedic, but that’s where my praise for the show stops. ![]() The uniqueness in the way the series is portrayed through its great animation and use of unique frames The artstyle and animation are very good honestly speaking, it’s very fluid and the characters are drawn very well. The series relies on the gimmick of the girls being cute, it’s a dime a dozen show with the basic idea being that “introverted girl slowly comes out of her shell through the use of friends” which isn’t a foreign concept at all. Bocchi the rock can be summed up as a show that banks on relatability, and cute girls doing cute things. ![]()
